Can someone give me ideas as to what to check or where to go online?

I have a Sony DVD Player/Video Cassette Recorder, model SLV-D100 which gives me this message when I try to view a disc: This disc cannot be played. Please check the disc. I have tried many different discs and they all get the same message. Tried a disc cleaner and it will not play it either. Hardly used this DVD player. ? Suggestions or website links would be helpful.
