Using the camera to transfer footage on to tape from copmputer

I have an iMac and Final Cut Pro Editing software, normally I can easily upload the footage onto the other cameras I have used in the past, but when I set it up to do so, it recognises that video is about to be sent to the camera, as it comes up with "DV IN" at the top right hand side, then it initialises the record, but it only has a black screen, although the footage transfering is clearly being played on the computer. Is there a function I am missing that I need to press on the camera? I have tried it with the "A/V.IN" option on, and "OFF". thanks for your time
