JVC Service or Question--problem solved
I had the same problem with my JVC-32980 TV as all your other writers. The set died for no apparent reason and after relatively little use. Having no idea what was wrong, I took it in for service at an authorized repair center and $200 later I was back in business. Approximately 6 months later the set was dead again!
Figuring that this had to be a manufacturers defect I began searching the web for product recall information and had the good fortune to find this site. (Surprise--JVC says there is no defect). It seems that there are lots of others who've had the same experience and fortunately for me, they also had the answer.
Figuring I had nothing to lose, I decided I'd try the repair suggestions posted by several other contributers. Well, (1) $1.79 part (Radio Shack -1000uF 35v capacitor) and 40 minutes labor, which will be considerably less for me next time (yes, next time) and I'm watching TV again.
Thanks to all for their "on the money" contributions to this fantastic site.
