Please provide guidance

I know, it's a Cyberhome???? Anyway I bought it over a year ago to transfer VHS tapes to DVD, I just got around to it and it no longer works. I used it once when I bought it and it worked, but now when I put a blank DVD +R in it askes me 1st to format then it says it's not recognized or when I put a DVD in to watch it says there is no DVD in it? I already cleaned the eye with air. If anybody has any idea it would be greatly appreciated. Thnaks, Maurice
