MVC-CD400 Charge light flashing rapidly

Hi. I have a MVC-CD400, will not work on battery power. Have tried a different battery. When I plug it in to charge, the charging light flashes rapidly. Have tried a reset and even let the battery drain all the way until date reset. Please help.
