JVC AV-36050....Picture will go to a black screen after some time of watching television, but the sound is still on. Tried to change channels, same problem. The only thing that seems to work is to turn off the television for an hour or so, then it will be fine. Then it will do the same thing again. Any ideas on what could cause this, or if it is something that we are able to repair ourselves. If it needs to be taken to a repair shop, what should the cost of the part be, I don't want to get cheated by a repair person.

I have recently experienced the same problem with my JVC AB27BP3. In the early stages I could turn the TV off for an hour or so and then it would work again for a short while. However, turning the TV off for a while, no longer seems to fix the problem. If someone knows what the problem might be and how much it would cost to fix at a repair shop, it would be greatly appreciated. I have owned this TV for approx 17 years with no problems. Given the age though, I am not sure it is worth fixing ... but I could be wrong :) Any advice anyone?
