Tape Deck won't go back into camera

I have a JVC 25x optical lens camera. When I put the tape in it will close, but it will not go back into the camera itself. And in order for me to get the tape out of the tape deck I have to plug or unplug the charger. What should I do???? Right now I have a camera sitting out with the tape deck out and closed and I'm worried that it will collect dust on the inside of the camera after awhile.
