Remote controls will not work from distance greater than 2 feet.

For some reason my JVC I'Art AV-27F713 will not function via a remote (factory remote, various dvr/universal remotes) with new batteries. Everything works great if you have the remote 2 feet or lees from the set. Any further and the remote will not function. If I unplug the set for about 10-15 minutes and plug it back in, (hard reset) the reomte works from accross the room for about 30 seconds. After that its back to holding the various remotes 2 feet or lees from the set. If anybody has any insight on this I would sure appreciate it. This is driving me nuts, and reminds me of my childhood where we had an old channel "chugger" with NO remote.
