TV will not power up and will only make a few beating sounds from the speaker and then do nothing.

Was watching the TV then the picture and sound went out and it started making like drum sounds from the speakers then it just stopped and would not turn off without unplugging it. When it is turned on it does the same thing. The blue light up front comes on but it has no picture and makes those same sounds. Any ideas about what could have caused this problem?
