HomeProblem with Sony KV32V15 TV display Hey guys. My Sony TV is a KV-32V15 and when I turn it on I hear the sound of the channel so my audio is working but the picture takes about 10-20 minutes to come on and when it does come on it only shows picture for about 1-5 minutes and then my screen goes black again but I continue to hear the sound. Does anyone have a suggestion? Is this a easy fix or an expensive one? Thanks.

I too am having a similar problas as the one described in the above email. I have a KV35v76. Here is the problem to date: On turn on: First 30-60 seconds: Sound operates normally. no display. Timer/standby LED flases at a rate of once per second with no pauses. After 30-60 seconds: Sound continues to operate normally. Display comes on, and flases on/off about every 2-5 seconds. While the display is off I can see retrace lines through the display. After about 5-10 minutes the TV will power down as if it had overheated/been over-driven. As per techlore.com: "Many of the later model Sony TV’s have a built in self-diagnosis function. If the timer/standby indicator is blinking, this could be an indication of a problem with the unit. The diagnostic blinking will occur automatically with no action required by you to engage it. The timing of the blinking you see would be as follows: two to nine blinks, (depending on the fault), about a third of a second apart, then a pause for 3 seconds, then the two to nine blinks about a third of a second apart again. Here is a list of the problems that might have occurred indicated by the number of blinks. The words in parentheses are those, which you will see for each of these faults on a diagnosis screen described later in this article. " "Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective." I have heard the Sony can have problems with cold solder joints, however, I can not locate a IC301 on this prticular model. Here are the corrective actions that I have taken to this point: Removed rear cover and vacuumed/blown out all dust that I found and was accessable. Pulled out all boards and cleaned with board/contact cleaner, reassembeled and adjusted the screen pot on the transformer. I have gotten this TV to ork to the best of my ability, but I'm afraid I will have to pay the electronics disposal fee and lug this heavy TV back out of here. |
