problem with tv

My magnavox is approximately 12 years old. It has recently developed a problem...a large black square appears on the screen on every channel except for one. When you change the channel or adjust the volume (if volume bars are displayed on the screen)the box disappears for about 6 seconds before returning. Any ideas?
