JVC HX-D7

I have a JVC home stereo model HX-D7 that goes into a "protection" mode and shuts down. I've researched this problem for quite some time and can't find out what I need to do to fix it. The screen flashes "Protect" and then shuts down within seconds. It seems as though many people are having this problem with this unit. If you have any idea as to what to do, please help!!
