GR-D72 won't capture video

I have tried to capture video using Firewire and the following video programs with no results. Mircosolft movie maker...WinDV...Roxio Easy Media Creator 9. No luck. They all reconize the camera, but when I hit the capture button, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? I have a Dell dimension 8400 running XP
