Black lines in video window

I have used this camera very little, and upon opening it to record a video a few months ago I got tons of black lines in the video window. I have tried changing tapes, but I am wondering if it is mearly on the camera window and not on the tape. I use the small cassettes, so if anyone has encountered this problem PLEASE let me know.
