I have the same model; with similar problem

I bought the camera Feb of 2004; it has recently been giving me "no picture" actually the picture looks blurry and streaky, like maybe the auto focus and/or iris is not working. I inadverntly shined a bright light into the lens, and AMAZINGLY it started working!(?) Since it only had a year warranty, I decided to take it apart and see if I could do anything (I am electronic engineer) to no avail, except now I've noticed the camera doesn't charge the battery anymore - not sure if this happened before I took it apart or not.(?) Once I shine the light in, and the picture starts working, it will continue to work until I turn it off and let it set overnight; then it "screws up" again.
