Lens won't retract

I dropped this camera when the lens was out, and a tooth has broken off from the lens drive motor gear. Can you fix this without replacing the whole drum as I can't get hold of just the right part? I need to know if it would be economic to repair. I bought a new camera but don't like it as much as the P71
