Hi Stacy,
I own a Hitachi DZ-MV270A camcorder. Today while I powered it to play a disk, it gave me an error code 2881. The manual doesn't help in this regard as it requests to call the dealer. The only Hitachi dealer in Houston, TX is in Pasadena, TX and I am not calling them since they tried to rip me off for $500. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for this forum.

I just ran into the same problem with my Hitachi DVD-CAM. I own a Hitachi 550A
With the -RAM disc, I get "Disc Access" followed by one of the following messages (seemingly randomly):
--Error has occurred. Please restart.
--Error has occured. Please reinsert a disc.
--Error has occurred. Error code No. 2881 Please read the manual.
The last is most common.
Anyone hear of a fix for this yet.
