I have a Sony EV-C8u Video Cassette Recorder which was put back in working order not too long ago. My problem is that I put a cassette tape in it that was bad, and it got all wound up in the machine and won't eject. The tape is important to me, and I would like to get it out without damaging the machine, but I cannot figure out how to open the unit up. I have removed all the screws I can find, and I can get the bottom off, but that leaves the tape carriage still encased in the top. I took two screws out of the door to the tape compartment, but I can only loosen the cover, not remove it.
Can you tell me the secret to getting access to the tape compartment, so that I can untangle the tape and get it out of the machine? (After I tried to play the tape, the machine went through the noises that it usually makes to load the tape, and did it two or three times, then it went silent, the Eject light blinks, and nothing happens when I press the Eject button.)
Thanks for having this wonderful website.
