Re: JVC service or questions

Jason Posted Nov 21, 2006, in response to:Stacy Sample

I have been trying to get a repair man to come out for 4 weeks now and am trying to just do this on my own. I have a 56" JVC rear projection TV, model AV56WP74. There is a long purple U-shaped bubble in the top left corner of the TV. I have attempted numerous times to run the auto convergence and super focus, but that does not do anything. When I select the manual focusing, it shows the lines in the top left corner to be out of alignment, but I cannot figure out how to straighten them out. There is also a very faint line throught the middle of the TV and the upper right hand corner is out of focus, but when selecting the manual focusing, the lines do not appear to be out of alignment. The main problem is the purple U-shape in the upper left hand corner. Do you have any suggestions? The repair man said that he would just have to come and enter in a bunch of codes to fix it. He does not think that any mirrors are messed up. Thank you!

I have the same problem. I has something to do with the convergence board and the IC's on that board. I have read up on the same symtoms on other Projection TVs and all come down to the same fix. My problem is finding out where these things are in side? I can solder, no problem. I just need to find out what to replace. The parts can be purchaced online.
