No sound from AV 27F703 TV set

A few days ago the sound just disappeared from my TV model AV 27F703. The remote control has also lost control of most features. I put fresh batteries in the remote, but still no sound and still not able to use commands on the remote control. Any help to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
