about zune
Product Discription
Zune that will be developing by Microsoft to rival Apple’s ipod is your connection to the world of media and to entertainment-loving people like yourself. Starting with 30GB, Zune is easy to use and easy to love.
Designed around the principles of sharing, discovery and community, Zune will create new ways for people to connect and share entertainment experience. The Zune experience centers around connection-connection to your library, connection to friends, connection to community and connection to other devices.
Zune starts with a 30GB digital media player and adds a twist. You can wirelessly share selected full-length sample tracks, playlists, pictures or your home-grown tracks directly from Zune to Zune. You can listen to the full-length songs that you receive up to three times in three days, flag the ones you like and easily buy them the next time you sync up. You can discover new music in the Zune Marketplace, and show off your favorite pictures and videos on the big, bright screen.
What we know
Zune is the name of the project, the brand, and the device.
The first Zune device will be launched this year, with more devices to come in 2007.
The Zune brand encompasses not only the device, but the software that will drive it, as well as a music, movie, and media service the Zune device family will use for acquiring, sharing and discovery of said media. Music will be the first angle of service that is launched, “connected entertainment” being the ultimate goal.
Video support will be the very important part of Zune. And how you help people discover the world of what they want and the enabling them to share it with their friends are two sorts of sides of the same coin that are secret to what we have to do with Zune and the services that we’re going to drive there.
As I know there are many software corporations always keep their eyes on the issues about all the multimedia industries and they will provide the relative up-to-date tools what can satisfy the demand of customers. Foe example, Xilisoft Corporation have the intention to develop Zune player related software, Such as Xilisoft DVD to Zune Converter, Zune Video Converter etc, however it is a time-uncertain work as it is determined by the publish of Microsoft Zune player. It is worth mentioning that in the past days, Xilisoft Corporation have caught hold of the opportunity and released the software about iPod converter software and PSP converter tools.
How big storm will be whipped up in the Video-and-Audio sector and how much impact to the iPod will be caused are not be quite sure unless the player developed by Microsoft comes out finally. What will develop in the end, let’s wait and see.

Because the zune uses wmv for its video files you can probably just use microsofts free windows media encoder to convert the videos.
