Repair ideas?

My son rubbed a large Mylar balloon on my 36" JVC TV while it was on. It immediately shut down and will not come back on. The set is getting power as the power/timer lights glows dimly when plugged in, but the set will not come on. The TV is 6 years old, but has had very light use in its life.
