I got a Sony KP-53HS10 rear projection but picture is snowy any ideas??

Hi i have an oppertunity to pick up a 53 inch Sony KP-53HS10 rear projection TV. it's about 6 years old and It has only one problem that the picture is snowy. The guy that I'm getting it from said that he just fixed the problem a year ago but it came back. He said that it has something to do with the connectors or something. i do know my way around electronics and cars, so do you think i should get it ? and if so , what do you think is the problem. any help would be appricated thanks.
