Camera image now distorted / lines. Rear screen view on past photos OK.

Does anyone know if this is an easy fix or should the camera be sold for parts. Worked fine, was turned off and when turned back on, the image through the lens is messed up. The old images view through the rear screen are fine, so it is what the camera sees through the lens that is now bad. Any advice. Thanks, Robert
