No picture

This is a 13 year old set, that never had a problem until yesterday- very lucky. The Timer/Standby light keeps flashing and there is no picture. I have IO Cable service, so I have sound, but no picture. Tried unplugging the TV for a while and then replugging. The first time this happened, the picture returned. But after shutting the TV and turning it back on again, the Timer/ Standby light once again kept flashing and no picture, just sound. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
