i need help

my friends tv is a JVC AC 120V 60Hz. and her son did something to the tv, and now there is an red light flashing under "ON Timer" by the power button. her tv will turn on if you unplug it then plug it back in but only for about 5-10 seconds, it wont turn on if you just hit the power button. i was wondering if you knew how to take the timer off? if so that would be grand. thanks for the help.
