Is the Rittenhouse comparable to Nutone as they bought the company?

We have a Artolier Musicom Home intercom system by Rittenhouse that was installed in 12 rooms in the 1970's. This system takes forever to warm up so I assume it has tubes and does not work well. Is there a way to update this system as the house is already wired?
