JVC RX-558V OVERLOAD

Rick Posted Nov 06, 2006

My JVC RX-558V receiver has started overloading, but only recently.

Hi, I have a JVC RX-558V receiver, and 2 JVC SP 7700 speakers. This has been a super stereo since I bought it new. I dont know for sure how long I have had it, but it has been a good while. Last weekend, I was playing my music loud which is normal for me. It has been playing like this almost daily for years without a hitch. This time, the stereo got quiet, and when I looked at the face, it said OVERLOAD!!. This is the first time I have ever seen this. I turned it off, then on. It resumed playing normally. I crank it up again, same thing happens. This is critical this thing works because this also serves as my alarmclock via computer. I go and buy a brand new pioneer VSX-816-k receiver, and hook it to the SP7700 speakers. This receiver does not make it even as long or as loud as the JVC before it flashes overload. I opened the speakers, the crossovers look fine, the speakers look fine. DO you think my speakers have went out? should I try new crossovers? they dont distort a bit, never have. What would you recommend? This is very important as this is the only alarm setup on earth that will wake me up. Thanks for your input, Rick
