Purchased a JVC DR-MV1SL dvd recorder/vcr combo for $450.00 in September 2004. It ran really hot and was having problems loading after a few months' use and finally quit working altogether about 9 months after I purchased it. However, I was in the middle of evacuating for a couple of hurricanes and wasn't able to contact the warranty department before the warranty expired. I have read several complaints about this dvd recorder/vcr combo and don't understand why JVC hasn't issued a recall. Guess they don't want to eat all that money they conned people out of. Do you know what the possible problem with this unit could be? Since JVC won't even attempt to work with me on this, I figured rather than lose $450.00, I would spend a little and try to have it fixed on my own, but being a single mom, it's hard to do. If it can be fixed. Like I said, the unit ran really hot the entire time I used it, then dvd player started locking up, wouldn't load, and then quit working altogether.
