Help required

Hi, i have had my camcorder for a couple of years with no problems. Not used it for well over 6 months and now i get the Lens cap message, even though it's removed, and no picture. This is driving me nuts, they are not cheap, and i for one cannot afford to take this as a loss. Please help?
