black screen only on jvc dv camera model no. gr-d22u...?

i have a jve dv camera model no. gr-d22u...when i turn in on i only get a black screen...remove lens cap message comes up then goes away and still just a black screen...the lens cap is removed by the way...what's wrong with my camera?...help
