Re[4]: JVC service or questions

Number Cruncher Posted Oct 29, 2006, in response to:Number Cruncher

OK - follow-on reply just for the record. My TV first failed Around Sept 2006 -I did the capacitor fix and it lasted about 9 months. I replaced the capacitor again this time but the problem still wasn't fixed. TV would not turn on. This time I went to the repairman and spent $180 for a fix - something to do with the power regulator. Brought the set home and it worked. But after about a few hours if you shut it off - the tv would not turn on again. If you unplugged it and let if cool off for a few hours then replugged it would turn on again. I took it back to the repairman again - they agreed to make good on the fix for no additional money. Apparently the power regulator fried again (at least that's what I think I heard). So they sent the board back to JVC for them to fix it. I picked it up today and all is well. I asked the repairman what the fix was but he said he didn't know - JVC just fixes the board and sends it back. Next time this fails that will be the end of it. This thing is too heavy to keep carting back and forth to the repairman.
