picture doesn't appear on lcd monitor

When I open my Lcd monitor for recording it shows "lens cap" and nothing is visible even after lens cap is not there.I am not able to understand why it is appearing.Please help me in this matter.I purchased this camcorder 1.5 years back.The model is GRDF430U.
