Well unless something else has cropped up which I am unaware of the GR-D71U is only on a list in a range of camcorders that was accidentally fitted with defective image sensors (CCD's) this being the cause of the infamous "lens cap problem", a qualified free repair being offered by JVC on this particular fault.
