JVC service or questions

From England: mother's 2 year old TV (UK model AV28GT1) picture zooms in about 15% before stabilising. Repairman says replacement component costs almost as much as a new TV!! Anyone know component number so that my sister (much better than me with a soldering iron) or I can try to repair it for her?
