How can I send video from my cam to my pc?

I've bought the GR-DX317EX camera, installed a firewire on my pc but don't get any recognision from my PC when I attach the cam . Do I need a driver for my pc to recognize the camera 'cause I've been searching a lot on the net but don't find any drivers for this specific type of camera... Please help me with this if you can.
