Parts for Philips CDR775 recorder

The Analogue input on my Philips CDR Recorder is not functioning. On inspection my local repairman informs me that parts are no longer available for this unit. Does this mean that I have to dispose on the entire unit to the trash bin? Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that Philips would make parts avaibable for a few years yet. Can anyone help me?
