JVC camcoder with still function photographs (memory stick present), photos are blurr there is no proper resolution

i bought a JVC camcoder with digital still function, its specifications are 16:9, 32x, 800x optical zoom the video recording is just fine, but when i shoot still images they are very blurr ant not clear at all what could be the problem? can you please help me?
