JVC repaired my TV for free
I bought my TV in June 2002 and had an additional warranty through Best Buy that ran out this June. I had the same type convergence problems as everyone else and asked for the schematics. Tracey and Eric were kind enough to provide me with excellent information, but I didn't feel qualified to perform the fix so I went to our Navy Exchange here in Japan (I'm in the military stationed in Japan). The JVC rep at the Exchange (Tony) took down my information and said he would contact JVC, I told him that the TV wasn't under warranty and I was concerned about how much it would cost to repair. He told me that they would probably take care of it for free. I was shocked when the repairman contacted the next week from Tokyo to set up the repair visit. He arrived at my house and was done within an hour replacing all the things that the schematics had shown me to replace and best of all it didn't cost me a cent. I don't know why JVC in the U.S. wouldn't want to provide the same great customer service although this type of service is rare in this day and age. I wish you all luck with your repairs however they're accomplished.
