DCS V1 MAJOR PROBLEMS

I have a Sony DCS V-1 and have used it and taken some beautiful picture over the last few years. All of a sudden out of the blue all new pictures taken are almost white as if over exposed and have lines running through them. The video function is fine and once downloaded are good quality. Does any one have an idea what the problem is ?
