Looking for advice on our Sony KV27V45. Looks like the a common failure for Sony televisions in my quick search on the internet...

Looks like a we have a problem with our Sony television. First there were 5 flashes, unplugged for a couple minutes, then 4 flashes (repeating). According to info I have found on line, seems to be related to the A-board. Is replacing this something a DIY'er should attempt to replace? Looks like the board alone is $100-$150 (is it even worth it?). Would a repair facility replace the board or just the faulty parts?
