The picture is distorted with a rainbow of colors in the top 15% of the screen

Good evening, I have a JVC HV-53PRO Rear Projection Television that has the picture distorted in the top of the screen and is showing a rainbow of colors. I have been told that it is a bulb that is going out or has gone bad. Any suggestions? JOHN G. CASTILLO SFC, USA
