JVC service or questions

It could be a tape issue. Some tapes brands are more problematic than others. If you are using a Maxell or TDK...try getting a Panasonic or JVC tape. AFter that...reset the camcorder buy removing any tape in it, power it down. Remove the battery for minute or so and then power it back up. Try the new tape. IF that does not work..then contact JVC at 800-252-5722 for assistance. Hope this helps.
