I came across Error 4 this past week on my GR-DVL300. Like everyone else, I removed the battery and and put in back in only to find it did not clear the error. I stumbled across the postings here after doing a google search and found the one about hitting the camera on the side. I wacked the camera on the side just once and now it is working! I'm glad that is all it took and I am glad that I found the posting on this site!
