GR-DU90u camera suddenly displays unusuable picture in 3.5" LCD window.

I have a GR-D90u that has worked GREAT for a couple of years. Now when I turn it on, it looks like the image is smeared vertically in the 3.5" LCD window. I get no image through the lens. This happened over night. There were no hints that anything was starting to go wrong. I have no battery issues.
