Panasonic digital camera keeps turning on and off despite fully charged battery

Panasonic digital camera keeps turning on and off despite fully charged battery. This usually happens when I first turn on and hit the red record button. It usually turns on and off three or 4 times but once settled stops and lets me record. Very frustrating. love the camera but can't cope. Must be a small problem but Panasonic repairs want £100 just to look at the camera. Please help Bill
