weird problem with our DVD/VHS combo machine DR-MV1S

Had this machine for about a year and it works OK except for annoying blip every hour on the hour when the fan turns on and TV blacks out for a couple of seconds, but now it's gone mad - every 3 minutes or so it turns on all by itself, blue light flashes and "LOADING" flashes, then it turns off again, cycle repeats endlessly. We can't turn it off properly, tried unplugging it all and then reconnecting but it still does it. Do you have any suggestions?
