GR DVM1 docking station seems to be dead

GR DVM1 camera is good. made a video with the camera which was fine, but when I lock the camera into the docking station nothing happens except that it starts to get quite hot at the base of the camera. Any suggestions? I had loaned the equipment out to a friend, who didn't report any problems with it. Prior to that -- I had no problems at all. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.
