Please help me get started fixing this!

I have an older Sony CCD-TR82 Handycam that has worked great all these years. Recently, I took the camcorder out to record some engine work I am doing. I went to put in a tape and found that the Eject button was totally dead. The rest of the camcorder (camera section and all effects) works fine. I've done considerable electronics work, but never on a camcorder. can anyone give me a place to start troubleshooting? Thanks!
