Smacking camera is one way of doing but the proper way is just open 2-3 screws around video head and open the plastic cover and slightly pull ( not full just a little ) two connectors . that wil fix the problem 4 ever.. Davy garg

Smack the camera with your hand on either side - fairy hard - with the tale inserted. It works! there is another site that I just closed where dozens of people (now me) used this to get the tape to playback. I could record fine.

I have had the same issue, and just came across a website that said to give the camera a good smack on the side. Reluctantly, I tried, and lo and behold, it worked! Not too hard obviously, but a good smack. Give it a try.
